With temperatures soaring , AM/CAN CH. LUVIT'S A ROLEX YACHT-MASTER AT DALNAVERT "LEX" would once again win the breed and take a GROUP 1st .Hot, tired and exhausted from the events of the weekend, exhibitors said their goodbyes, committee members cleaned up the last of the specialty items, and dogs and handlers left for home. Lex and Marilyn would spend the rest of the week with us. Lex would have a well deserved rest for 2 weeks before he would continue on the campaign trail for 2011.

Our hospitality committee, headed by Carla Morrow, spent the afternoon of the Specialty decorating the restaurant "Lee's on Devries" located at the Royal Canadian Legion not far from the show site, based on our theme Bichon Beach Party. We hosted a crowd of 40 people to a buffet of homemade Manitoba delectables of perogies, cabbage rolls, kubassa , chicken, salad, and Jeannie's cake. The live auction was a huge success bringing in almost $1000.00. Many went home with beautiful items graciously donated by Bichon lovers.
The big day had arrived for all of us. Hours of planning and preparation for the BFCC Specialty committee would be based on the day's success.
It was now Friday morning and we had to be ring ready for 8:30 am. We were still "reeling" from our BIS win the day before and our victory celebrations that night. We celebrated at Mona Lisa restaurant ,where the propriotor Alfina Grande treated us to a bottle of champaign ! Sweeps were on first where Deedee placed 2nd and Gracie placed 3rd in the 12 - 18 month class. Then onto the Specialty. Veteran dog , CH. Dalnavert's Summer Jet Stream "Jet" enjoyed his return to the show ring; Specials Am/Can CH. Risgae's Hershey's Kisses of Dalnavert-Luvit "Hugs" , Am/Can CH.
This would be the first day of the All Breed Show. Due to the Specialty, entries had large numbers, competitors/entries had come from Texas , Georgia , Virginia , Michigan , Wisconsin, Quebec , Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia. It was exciting to see so many quality specimans of the breed. Brian and I , Linda and Marilyn, were excited to see Chrystal and Lex "in action" in the ring. The four of us would be together for the first time to watch Lex. Our afternoon began with winning Best of Breed, then to our delight a GROUP 1st win under Wendy Maisey.
After months of preparation, the MCA shows and the 18th National BFCC Specialty had finally arrived.
Swift Current presented us with another champion. "DeeDee" CH. Luvit's Dalnavert Double Destiny finished her championship on the Saturday taking the WF points at both shows plus a Best of Breed and a GROUP 4th. Then on the Sunday , as a Special , DeeDee won another BB and a GROUP 4th. Deedee was beautifully shown by Carolyne.
Since both Deedee and Gracie did not finish their championships , Carolyne and I decided that we would attend the Swift Current Shows ( 6 shows in 3 days). A road trip was in order ! With a 4 lane highway, well behaved dogs and a great driver - Carolyne, this 8 hour trip from Brandon was going to be a manageable one. We had success!
Deedee won WF on the Friday and the Sunday for 2 more points towards her championship.
We are very excited about our "new" look. Our son Grant has been the webmaster of our former and current site. This site allows me to do all of my own editing any time I choose. Hopefully, I will be able to keep my news more up to date.
